Sweet Revenge by Lynsay Sands

Two covers, same story.

Highlander Galen MacDonald is on a mission of revenge: kidnap his enemy's bride and make her his. But what he doesn't count on is a clever, fiery lass wielding a blade. When he realizes Kyla is delirious with fever, Galen wastes no time in wedding her.
While Kyla is grateful for the Scottish laird who saved her from marrying a loathsome man, she is just as furious that Galen has claimed her for his bride. But when they share an unforgettable night of passion, will it lead to a marriage of the heart, or will an enemy tear them apart?

I wasn't a huge fan of this book. The writing wasn't bad but the heroine seemed to put herself in a lot of danger. Danger that could of have been avoided if she would stay put. But even with that aspect of her personality, she wasn't a bad heroine. She always got herself out of  the trouble she put herself in. The hero was a bit lacking but was also your run of the mill historical romance highlander.  So overall not a bad book. Characters have a bit of flaws and the story had some entertaining moments.

Hope you enjoy.

Female Book Crush Wednesday!!!

My female crush this Wednesday is a book I've read a hundred times since discovering in 2012. It one of my favorite books that I love to read especially if nothing can hold my interest.

The Bride By Julie Garwood.

Two covers One great adventure!

By edict of the king, the mighty Scottish laird Alec Kincaid must take an English bride. His choice was Jamie, youngest daughter of Baron Jamison...a feisty, violet-eyed beauty. Alec ached to touch her, to tame her, to possess her...forever. But Jamie vowed never to surrender to this highland barbarian.
He was everything her heart warned against—an arrogant scoundrel whose rough good looks spoke of savage pleasures. And thought Kincaid's scorching kisses fired her blood, she brazenly resisted him...until one rapturous moment quelled their clash of wills, and something far more dangerous than desire threatened to conquer her senses.

It is such a light-hearted and funny read. I caught myself laughing out loud several times til this day. Julie Garwood created a world filled with amazing characters and such a great plot that it has lasted through the years as a contender on everyone's to reread book list and a great historical romance novel masterpiece. I always feel great reading this and it always feels like the first time. If you have not read this you need to get on it asap.

I really hope you fall in love with it as I have.

On the Edge (On The Edge #1) by Kallysten

Brett Andrews thought he had it all.
His new club, On The Edge, catering to vampires and humans, is a smashing success, and the beautiful vampire Lisa is everything he could have dreamed of.
When an old lover of hers, Leo, shows up at the club, Brett’s immediate fear is that he will lose Lisa. But if he just stops thinking long enough to follow Lisa’s lead, he might gain a lover instead of losing one.

I really like this story. It was very enjoyable the whole series as a whole is great and book 2 is one of my favorite parts of the series but I digress. Anyway I read the series in order I know a shocker but I did and I am glad that i did, This one was a great way to introduce a new dynamic into an already settle situation. A very enjoyable read and a great series.

Hope you enjoy.

Blair and the Emoboy (The Emoboy #1) by Pepper Pace

Pepper Pace's erotically charged short story explores what happens when the tough as nails, outspoken Blair finally pushes her shy best friend, Daniel, one step too far.

I'm a huge fan of Pepper Pace but this was a miss for me. At the beginning the story was okay but towards the end it went left, to place I just wasn't really comfortable with. I guess a lot of people enjoyed it because it won an award but it was definitely a loser in my book.

Whether its a hit or a miss for you
I hope you enjoy.

Indentured Bride by Yamila Abraham

Cruel alien masters have oppressed Tabitha for the last ten years. An Alliance observer discovers that she’s been experimented on and pulls her from the slave colony. She’s going to be granted the privilege of becoming an indentured bride.
Tabitha doesn’t see her new assignment as a privilege. Her duties seem pretty clear cut, and she knows what Hax-Rah aliens are like. The last thing she wants is to be stranded on a moon with one.
Hex-Lord Jaxil took an isolated mission for a reason, and he never asked for a bride.

This wasn't a good read for me. I just felt the heroine was so excited to leave a bad situation without  taking into full account that she might be entering into another one.  The story line has potential but I wish the heroine was more realistic but I did like the hero and robot in this story, they made the story  a bit readable. In summary interesting concept, good hero, an okay heroine, and a good robot.

Well I hope you enjoy this one.

Dragon Marked (Supernatural Prison #1) by Jaymin Eve

There are supernatural prisons hidden across the globe. Contained within these fortresses are some of the deadliest criminals from the five supernatural races: vampire, shifter, fey, magic users and demi-fey.
Jessa Lebron, twenty-two, has spent her entire life in Stratford, Connecticut, one of the gateway towns adjoining these prisons which protect the fortified borders. She’s a wolf shifter, and her father leads the town council. She learns that much of her life has been hidden from her, secrets which threaten to tear apart the very fabric of her world. Especially the biggest secret of them all.
She is dragon marked.
Jessa only knows what she’s been told about the dragon marked, that they are dangerous and must be eliminated to prevent the rise of the dragon king, the powerful warmonger who had his head removed a thousand years ago. So now Jessa's on the biggest hit list of all. Dragon mark hunters are lethal and her only hope to evade detection is to keep the energy contained.
As more secrets unfold she finds herself locked up in Vanguard, the notorious American supernatural prison. Thankfully she’s not alone. Braxton, the dragon-shifter has her back. Together they must survive long enough to free themselves and the other dragon marked.
Because it’s time for the dragon marked to rise.

It took me awhile to get through this one but I finally succeeded and I can whole hardheartedly say it was an enjoyable read. Which came as a shock because the reading process was a long one. But I think that was on me, I would lose interest so quickly that I would give up and move to the next book. It must because everything seemed to be going in such a snail pace. Other than that it was a good read. I don't know if I will continue with the series even though it ended on an interesting note. We'll just have to see.

Hope you enjoy!!

My Second One is.....

Never Love A Highlander by Maya Banks

Such amazing read!! One of my favorites. I really love Caelen and his gruffy, direct, and loyal spirit. I absolutely love Rionna!! She's true to herself and her stubborn, "go against the grain", loyal, and protective spirit was the perfect match for Caelen. *sighs*
"I allowed my heart to discount evidence that my mind knew was sound. I’ll never second-guess what stares me in the face again."

The story:
Caelen McCabe just married his brother's jilted bride. Having at one time given his heart to the woman who nearly destroyed his clan and got his father killed, he vows never to allow any woman near his heart again. only the loyalty he feels for his clan and family made him marry the woman before him.

“Better, wife. But not good enough.” Deciding she’d had enough of that smug superiority, she ducked low and launched herself at him. She lined up her shoulder and hit him right below the waist. He let out a string of curses that blistered her ears. Then he slipped to his knees, his hand cupping his cods. His sword fell from his other hand and landed in the snow. Rionna stumbled back, retrieved her sword, and then put the tip to his neck. “Do you yield?” “Hell yes, I yield or you’ll likely slice off what’s left of my cods.”

Rionna Mcdonald is a fierce female warrior, who is nothing but a pawn in her father's conquest for power. She promises to do her duty but protect her heart and clan. She'll soon learn that the guards she had up were easy to melt by the warrior she now calls her husband.

“ ’Tis the sweetest meal I’ve ever eaten,” he said in a husky voice. “Offered from the hand of a naked goddess while she sits astride me. ’Tis heaven I’ve gone to.”

The growth between the characters and with themselves is what made this story so good to read. The battle part of the story was crafted amazingly from the moment before the conflict started to the end of it. It was good!!

"She’s spoken before of a time when part of my heart was withheld from her because it belonged to another, but from the moment I laid eyes on her, I belonged solely to her. Ah, lass, I think I have always loved you, for ’tis the truth I cannot ever remember a time I didnt"

 Hope you enjoy!!

Female Book Crush Wednesday is.....

Her Secondhand Groom by Rose Gordon

Widower Lord Patrick Ramsey, Viscount Drakely, fell in love and married at eighteen only to be devastated by losing her as she bore his third daughter. Now, as his girls are getting older he realizes they need a mother—and a governess.
Not able to decide between the two which they need more, he marries an ordinary young lady from the local village in hopes she can suit both roles. But this ordinary young lady isn’t so ordinary after all, and he’ll either have to take a chance and risk his heart once more or wind up alone forever.

Amazing and so good!! Juliet is one of my favorite heroines. So strong willed, stubborn, and can cut you down quick with her words. So glad I read this. And the hero was a true Alpha and an ass sometimes. Loved him though. And the pair of them together amazing. The arguments that would erupt were so delicious with sexual tension, it was just good foreplay. Haha!!;)
Great book, amazing characters, and a lovely HEA.

Happy Release Day!!!!!

As I said in my previous post  one of my favorite authors has release a new book that is apart of one of my favorite series. Now I haven't read it yet. So I'll update this post later on this week with my review but I am super excited for this particular story. I can't wait!!!!

Happy Release Day Ms. Suzanne Wright!!!!

Book Five: Savage Urges

Synopsis:
She’s a lone wolf with a cause.
As a volunteer at a shelter for lone shifters—the same one that rescued her—Makenna Wray has dedicated her life to finding homes for its residents. And when she discovers that a teen in her care is related to Ryan Conner, the broody, handsome-as-sin enforcer of the Phoenix Pack, she’s eager to help connect the two. She just wasn’t prepared to feel a connection of her own.
Lone wolves are loners for a reason—and most of them bad. Or so Ryan assumes until he meets the mysterious Makenna. Quirky and sensual, she seems to enjoy riling him, especially when she refuses to discuss her past. Although there is no mating bond, he’s sure she’s the one. All he has to do is be patient and wait. But when another pack’s sinister Alpha comes sniffing around, threatening Makenna and her shelter, this enforcer is ready to let his wolf off the leash…

In honor of one of my favorite series!!!

So here's the thing one of my favorite series is having a new book added onto the roster today and I thought I would honor the series as a whole by giving you my favorite quotes from each book excluded the new one of course since I haven't sunk my teeth into it yet.

Book One: Feral Sins

“Grace’s gaze skimmed over her, taking in the various marks of possession that decorated her flesh.  “Well, short of having ‘Property of Trey Coleman’ tattooed on your forehead, he couldn’t have made it any clearer that he considered you his, could he?”
                                                 ― Suzanne Wright, Feral Sins

Book Two: Wicked Cravings

“Giving him a slight wave, she turned and strolled away.
"Jaime?" he called after her. "Jaime, don't ignore me!"
Without breaking stride, she glanced at him over her shoulder.
"It's not that I'm ignoring you. I've just lost interest in the conversation.”
                                                 ― Suzanne Wright, Wicked Cravings

Book Three: Carnal Secret

“You’re my mate. I’m naturally going to want to know everything about you.”
He shrugged; it was simple. “That includes your address, where you work, and your cell number—just thought you should know so you won’t be surprised if a text message from me arrives.”
She gaped, both offended and shocked. “You can’t just pry into people’s lives like that and find out all their personal details. And how did you find them out anyway?”
He shrugged again. “I have contacts in the right places.”
“So, what, you’re a stalker now?”
“I prefer the term ‘intense investigator.”
                                        ― Suzanne Wright, Carnal Secrets

Book Four: Dark Instincts

“Why do you hate me?” griped Marcus.
Roni barely resisted the urge to whack her mate over the head. “I just want a little taste.”
“So get your own.”
“You took the last slice.”
“There are other cakes.”
“But I don’t like them. I like chocolate cake.” When he just stared at her wearing a sulky expression, she sighed. “Let me put this another way. Do you enjoy sex?”
“Yes.”
“Then you’ll share with me, and you’ll like it.”
                                                     ― Suzanne Wright, Dark Instincts

My "Book Crush Monday!!!"(BCM) Is.......Z Michaels from Shredded (Extreme Risk #1) by Tracy Wolff

An ARC from Netgalley for an honest review.

And I have to say this book was amazing. Had it for awhile and finally decided to read it. And this book did not disappoint. Even with the cliffhanger at the end. That was an honest to God way to end a book and segway into the second book.

The story:
Z Michaels professional snowboarder, has been through the ringer and back. And the only way for him to take the edge off is by indulging with the girls that throw themself whether he's home in Park City or on circuit. Z never lacks for ways to make the darkness of his past disappear but when those ways no longer are enough, things slowly starts getting out hand.
Enters Ophelia Richardson, definitely not like the girls he's been. Still struggling with the lost of her boyfriend and the accident that almost killed her. She doesn't need another guy in her whose is trying hard to kill himself. Or whose as damaged as she was maybe more so.
With things at impasse and Z death wish spinning out of control it seems things spiraling out of control way before it can truly. With fate at the wheel it seems their destiny is either survive and trust together or struggle and suffer.

Book was really good and emotional. Really well written and executed perfectly

Hope you like it, too!

Blogger's Note(BN): I read this a couple of hundred time since I received it in 2014. Its one of my favorite books and series. Its why I decided to start my BCMs with this lovely story.

La Vie en Rose {Life in Pink} by Lydia Michaels

An ARC from netgalley for an honest review.

With my busy schedule it took me longer to read this than usual. Plus I wanted to give it the time it deserved and I'm glad I did. One thing I had to do was take myself out of what I wanted this book to be  ( Another Breaking Perfect
).

But I realized this was gonna be a different type of book. Filled with hope, love, and a person's willingness to fight with everything they have. The emotions this story brought out from funny to crazy, to sad and courageous.

Description from back of book, Story:
Emma Sanders has always dreamt of being a bride, wearing fancy gowns, pretty pearls, and—of course—falling madly in love. Then life happened. Finding herself one fiancĂ© short of her happily ever after, she leaves the fairytales behind. Some days are simply too perilous for pink gowns and pearls.
Riley Lockhart is the sort of man who can make a woman lower her gaze with only a smile. That he doesn’t realize his charm makes him all the more enchanting. Determined to save Emma the pain of her breakup, he steps in as a friend, but soon finds himself wanting more.
was just a girl, but she somehow winds up being the strongest woman he’s ever known. Losing her is not an option and when life can’t be tied neatly in a pretty little bow, he holds tight to all that he loves—his Emma. His hero.
Sometimes the greatest scars are worn on the inside.

It was such a beautifully told story.
Hope you enjoy.
